The ‘YO’!ghurt surprise – it’s about the paapdi chaat.
Paapdi chaat is an Indian street food which is a very popular all time, anytime snack! This snack has now very comfortably moved into our homes and is loved dearly! A perfect reminder of the summer.
In one sentence if I were to let you know how it tastes – It would be zesty, tangy and refreshing! The crunchiness of the papdi sits in well with the smooth taste of the chickpeas , a great blend of the textures off setting the runny tangy raita.
It is a wonderfully delicious paapdi chat which can be enjoyed as an appetiser, an accompaniment to your main course or as a meal on its own. The choice is yours.
A simple and and easy dish to prepare even when you come back from work tired and crave for something different or shall I say ‘tangy’ !
8-10 paapdi pieces
1/4th cup Chickpeas, boiled (or canned)
1/4th cup boiled potatoes, diced
1 cup Greek yoghurt, whisked
1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder
1/4th teaspoon Red chilli powder
1/4th teaspoon black pepper
Salt to taste
Generous amount of fresh cilantro/coriander, finely chopped
Tamarind chutney to taste
Coriander chutney to taste
optional Garnish Few chickpeas and diced potatoes
Lay the paapdi in a wide flat dish .Add the chickpeas and potatoes on top of the paapdi.
Now in another bowl, add the whisked yoghurt, add the cumin powder, red chilli powder, black pepper and salt and mix well.
Pour the yoghurt on top of the paapdi Garnish with leftover chickpeas and potatoes. Sprinkle the finely chopped coriander.
Drizzle the tamarind chutney and coriander chutney according to taste. Serve chilled
